Classical Guitars

Classical guitars are not the same as acoustic guitars. Though technically still considered an “acoustic” instrument, there are many differences between an acoustic and a classical model. For one, the classical guitar is a much older instrument than the acoustic.

The most noticeable difference between acoustic and classical guitars is their size and shape. A classical guitar has a smaller body, but a wider neck. The small body tends to make them softer in volume, and the wide neck is designed to make intricate finger work easier to accomplish.

Another of the major differences between acoustic and classical guitars is in the type of strings they use. An acoustic guitar uses steel strings, which when combined with its larger body tend to make the instrument louder than a classical version, which use nylon strings. However, the nylon strings tend to be easier on the fingers when playing for extended periods of time.
